Bound For Conquest

11th MCI Annual Conference, Bogotá, Colombia, 23rd-28th January

MCI Church, one of the world’s largest, hosted their 11th Annual Convention in Bogotá, Colombia. The theme of the conference was ‘Rumbo a la Conquista’ or Bound for Conquest.

Over 1200 delegates gathered from around the world to meet with the 20,000 Colombians at El Campin Coliseum. Among them were many delegations from Latin America, including a church in Lima, Peru which has recently grown to 70,000 members and is expected to double in number by the end of the year.

Lawrence Khong, pastor of Singapore’s large Faith Community Baptist Church and a magician, told of the many doors that were opening in Asia and particularly China, including contacts at a high level of government.

The UK delegation included the leader of a Hispanic church in London which has grown from 60 to 3,000 in recent years. Pastor Ken Gott from Metro Church International, Sunderland also attended.

This was my fourth Convention in Colombia. My first in 2003, came six months after my wife’s funeral and brought great healing and direction to me and my family.

It was very evident that Bogotá was a much safer place (security was more low key) and that the church had moved to a new level of blessing and influence.

The teaching by the Senior 12 leaders, both men and woman, was of a very high biblical standard and the worship and friendship was characterised by a very strong sense of God’s presence.

In a country that has known so much spiritual darkness, with drug related killings, kidnappings and terrorism, the light of the gospel is shining brightly.

One of the leading female pastors, Jeanette Barrios, said, ‘the heavens are open over Mision Carismatica as never before and upon the churches here.’

Certainly we received a spiritual impartation and learnt much from the visit.
